National Highway-53: Facts, route, realty impact

The stretch from Maharashtra’s Dhule to Odisha’s Deogarh is a part of the Asian Highway-46.

The National Highway-53 (NH-53) connects Gujarat’s Hajira to the Paradip Port in Odisha. The NH-53 is a combination of the old NH-6, NH-200 and NH-5A. The NH-53 is also known as the Surat-Kolkata Highway and a part of the Asian Highway (AH) network. The stretch from Maharashtra’s Dhule to Odisha’s Deogarh is a part of the AH-46.

NH-53: Real estate impact

NH-53 connects two of India’s biggest ports – Hajira and Paradip. This helps boost the economic growth of the country and with this comes a real estate growth in the areas.

 

NH-53: New openings

In August 2023, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Kamakhyanagar-Duburi-four-lane stretch of NH-53. Spanning 51 km, the cost of constructing the stretch is Rs 761 Crore. This will improve the connectivity to Dhenkanal and Angul mineral rich districts of Orissa.

 

Shelad to Nandura stretch

In June 2023, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Shelad to Nandura stretch of the NH-53 in Maharashtra. This stretch has been built at the cost of around Rs 816 Crore and will play a big role in reducing the traffic congestion at the silver market, Khamgaon.
