NH5: Route and connectivity

The NH5 starts at Firozpur in Punjab and passes through Moga, Jagraon, Ludhiana, Kharar, Morinda and Mohali before entering Haryana. In Himachal Pradesh, the NH5 passes through Parwanoo, Solan, Shimla, Theog, Narkanda, Kumarsain, Rampur Bushahr and Chini before reaching its terminus at Shipki La. NH5: Challenges

NH5 is a challenging road to drive on due to its steep gradients, hairpin bends and narrow stretches. Landslides and snowfall during the winter months can also disrupt traffic on the highway. However, the Border Roads Organisation, which is responsible for maintaining the NH5, keeps the highway operational throughout the year.
