The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has released a list and served notices to around 524 dilapidated buildings in Navi Mumbai, as part of the pre-monsoon survey. These buildings are termed dangerous under Section 264 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act. The list of these buildings can be checked at www.nmmc.gov.in. The list also mentions the type of the building- residential or not.
Of these, 61 buildings are under the C1 extremely dangerous category. Residents in these buildings have been given notices to vacate immediately so that the buildings can be demolished. As per the government resolution of November 5, 2015, after serving the notice the electricity and water supply to these buildings have been cut. In case of a building collapse happening from the extremely dangerous category, owners will be held responsible.
The C2 category has 114 buildings. These buildings have to be vacated so that they can undergo structural repairs. As part of the C2B category, there are 300 buildings identified that need to undergo structural repairs. However, the residents need not vacate them.
The C3 category has 49 buildings that need to undergo only minor repairs.
As part of the monsoon preparedness plan, Mhada and BMC also have released a list of unsafe buildings in Mumbai.
