Noida Airport conducts first calibration flight to test navigation systems

Calibration flights enable pilots to familiarise themselves with the airport layout and procedures.

April 19, 2024: The Noida International Airport conducted its inaugural calibration flight on April 18, 2024. Calibration flights are essential for new airports as they validate and refine navigation aids, runway lighting, and airspace, ensuring precision and safety before commercial operations begin. These flights also enable pilots to familiarise themselves with the airport layout and procedures.

The Beechcraft King Air B300 aircraft was deployed to verify the functionality of all Airports Authority of India (AAI) navigation equipment. The Noida airport, slated to commence operations by December this year, is projected to accommodate 9.4-11.7 million passengers in the 2025-26 period.

The initial phase of development for the forthcoming international airport in Noida is estimated to incur a cost of Rs 10,056 crore, with approximately Rs 7,100 crore already expended. During its first phase, the airport, designated with the code DXN, will feature one runway and a terminal building.
