July 21, 2023: Around 197 developers in Maharashtra have been sent show cause notices by Maharashtra’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) for publishing housing project advertisements without the MahaRERA number.
Of the total fine of Rs 18,30,000 that has to be paid by these errant developers, around Rs 11,85,000 has been collected from 90 developers by the regulatory authority. Of these 90 developers, 52 developers are from the Mumbai region, 34 are from the Pune region and four are from the Nagpur region. The hearing of the remaining 107 developers is going on, mentioned a Loksatta report.
Initially, only the MahaRERA headquarter office- Mumbai would conduct inspections and hearings. However, now the regional offices of MahaRERA in Pune and Nagpur are hearing and inspecting MahaRERA related cases.
Under the Mumbai region comes the Mumbai city, the Mumbai suburbs, Konkan and Thane. The Pune region has areas including Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nashik and Ahmednagar under its jurisdiction. The Nagpur region includes Nagpur, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
