PAN card download: Step by step guide

PAN is mandatory for filing income tax returns, making any high-value financial transactions, opening and operating bank accounts, and applying for credit cards and other banking services

A Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a ten-digit alphanumeric identifier issued by the Indian Income Tax Department to an individual, firm or entity. It serves as an important identification proof and ensures that all monetary transactions made by an individual can be tracked easily in the income tax records.

PAN is mandatory for filing income tax returns, making any high-value financial transactions, opening and operating bank accounts, and applying for credit cards and other banking services. PAN also helps curb tax evasion and avoid money laundering as it allows the Income Tax Department to track all financial transactions of an individual or entity.
