Panvel, in Navi Mumbai, has a lush, green and clean environment. The physical infrastructure is well-developed and there are efforts underway to boost it, to cope up with the increasing population in the area.

 

Liveability quotient:

Schools: Saint Joseph High School; New Horizon Public School; DPS Panvel; Shantiniketan Public School.

Colleges: Pillai College of Education and Research; Mahatma Phule Arts, Science and Commerce College; Karnala Sports Academy’s Barn College; MGM College of Engineering and Technology.

Hospitals and diagnostic centres: Lifeline Hospital; Sahasrabudhe Hospital and ICU; Prachin Healthcare.

Connectivity: Some major highways that pass through Panvel, include the NH-4 and NH-17 and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, which begins from Panvel. The local rail network is connected to Mumbai through the Harbour Line.

Business and industry: Industrial area in Panvel; Taloja and Khopoli industrial areas in Panvel’s proximity; CCI logistic park in the locality.

Petrol pumps: 24-hour petrol pumps at several points in Panvel.

Civic facilities: Adequate lighting in the main areas and good traffic management.

Other facilities: Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

 

Existing and proposed physical infrastructure

Panvel has all essential infrastructure, including schools, colleges, training centres and excellent road and rail connectivity. There are proposals to build an IT and educational hub, in the area. In addition, the Navi Mumbai airport is coming up very close to Panvel. A metro line has also been proposed for the region, which will connect Vashi to Panvel, while an elevated train corridor that will connect Panvel to CST, is also being considered.

At present, Panvel only requires faster implementation of the proposed infrastructure projects. The timely completion of these projects, will provide a fillip to the realty growth in the area.
