Parivahan Punjab: How to apply for a driving licence online?
The government’s Parivahan Sewa Portal, under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), enables citizens to apply for driving licence and avail other vehicle-related services online. The step-by-step procedure is explained below.
- Visit the official portal https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/
- Click on ‘Drivers/ Learners License’ option
- Select the state ‘Punjab’ from the list.
- The main page of the Transport Department, Government of Punjab will be displayed on the screen, and you will find various driving licence-related services.
- Choose the ‘Apply for Driving Licence’ service option.
- Read instructions. Click on ‘Continue’.
- Enter the relevant details in the application form, including the learner’s licence number and date of birth.
- Upload the documents. Click on ‘Submit’.
- The payment gateway will be accessible in the next step. Pay the amount through any of the given payment modes.
- The payment receipt and acknowledgement slip will be created, which includes the application number.
- The applicant should complete the DL test slot booking.
- One should approach the RTO on the appointment date, along with supporting documents, e-receipt, and acknowledgement slip. The driving licence will be sent within 30 days of the driving skill test if gets cleared.

Driving licence applicants must fulfil the eligibility requirements set by the state.
- The candidate should be above 16 years of age to drive a motorcycle with an engine no larger than 50 CC.
- Applicants must be a minimum of 20 years of age to drive:
- Light motor vehicles, such as cars, bikes, and motorbikes with gear
- Commercial vehicle or a vehicle used for transportation
- After 30 days, the candidate must apply for a permanent driving licence, or within 180 days from the issue date of learner’s licence.
