PM inaugurates International Museum Expo 2023

The expo was organised to celebrate the 47th International Museum Day.

May 18, 2023: Prime minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the International Museum Expo 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The expo was organised as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate the 47th International Museum Day. The prime minister also inaugurated a virtual walkthrough of the upcoming national museum at the north and south blocks. He also took a walkthrough of the techno mela, the conservation lab and the exhibitions showcased on the occasion.

 

Modi also unveiled the mascot of the International Museum Expo, the graphic novel, A Day at the Museum, the directory of Indian museums, the pocket map of the Kartavya Path and the museum cards. The programme witnessed the participation of international delegations from cultural centres and museums from across the world.

 

Addressing a gathering, the PM said that the government was running a special campaign to conserve local and rural museums along with the heritage of every state and segment of society. He also stated that the development of 10 special museums was underway to highlight the contributions of the tribal communities in India’s freedom struggle.
