May 11, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 5,500 crore in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, on May 10, 2023. Three national highway projects, including the 114-km six-lane Udaipur to Shamlaji section of National Highway-48 (NH-48), 110-km widening and strengthening of the Bar-Bilara-Jodhpur section of NH-25 and a two-lane with paved shoulder section of NH 58E were also inaugurated.
The six-laning of the Udaipur-Shamlaji section of the NH-48 will benefit Udaipur, Dungarpur and Banswara, while the Bilara-Jodhpur section of NH-25 will provide easy access to border areas from Jodhpur, the PM said. He further added that the travel time between Jaipur-Jodhpur will be reduced by three hours, and the world heritage sites such as Kumbhalgarh and Haldi Ghati will become more accessible.
Other projects for which the foundation stones were laid include road construction projects for upgrading two-lane in Rajsamand and Udaipur, redevelopment of the Udaipur railway station, gauge conversion project and construction of a new line from Nathdwara to Nathdwara town in Rajsamand. The government is undertaking the task of modernising hundreds of railway stations across the country along similar lines to the Udaipur Railway Station, focusing on increasing the visitor-handling capacity.
While addressing a public rally, the PM said that the government is focusing on providing modern infrastructure in Rajasthan. These projects focus on improving infrastructure and connectivity across the region, with the railway and road projects facilitating the movement of goods and services. This will boost trade and commerce and improve the socio-economic conditions of the people in the region.
