January 23, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January, 19, 2024, laid the foundation stone for eight Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) projects totaling approximately Rs 2,000 crore in Solapur, Maharashtra. He inaugurated over 90,000 houses completed under PMAY-Urban in Maharashtra and 15,000 houses for the Raynagar Housing Society, benefiting numerous handloom workers, vendors, and power loom workers.
During the event, the PM initiated the distribution of the first and second instalments to 10,000 PM-SVANIDHI beneficiaries in Maharashtra, supporting street vendors on their path to self-reliance. Acknowledging Solapur’s status as an industrial city renowned for textiles and the largest MSME cluster for school uniforms, he highlighted the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, offering loans and modern equipment. The government’s commitment to MSMEs is evident in initiatives like the One District One Product Scheme.
Additionally, the PM announced the imminent completion of the four-lane highway connecting Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, and Solapur. He emphasised the rapid development of infrastructure, including railways, roads and airways, to connect cities seamlessly.
