PMC extends deadline to avail 40% rebate on property tax till Nov 30

The order will be signed on November 16, Ajeet Deshmukh said, as stated in a media report.

November 14, 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has extended the deadline to fill out the PT-3 form, which enables owners of residential properties occupied by themselves to avail 40% rebate on property tax–from November 15 to November 30, according to media reports. However, the decision will be signed by the PMC on November 16, 2023, when the authority reopens after the two-day holiday.

According to an IndianExpress report, Ajeet Deshmukh, in charge of the property tax department, said that there was a demand from citizens to extend the deadline for submitting PT-3 form as the PMC will remain closed for the next two days. The municipal commissioner gave the approval to extend the deadline till November 30, 2023. The order will be signed on November 16, he said.

As per the report, the PMC had withdrawn the 40% discount in 2019 after the state audit department raised objections. Following this, the residents faced a financial burden as the civic administration issued property tax bills without the concession. Due to severe opposition from citizens, the officials had taken up the matter with the state government.

In April 2023, the state government allowed the PMC to continue with the decades-old 40% concession scheme on property tax for self-occupied residential properties. Consequently, the 40% concession in the annual taxable value and 15% concession in the annual rent against the existing 10% was restored. The civic administration had said it would send revised property tax bills issued to residents for the financial year 2023-24. However, many eligible beneficiaries received bills without the concession. To clear the confusion, the PMC urged citizens to submit all the documents to prove their eligibility and avail the benefit of the concession.
