PMC to grant property tax exemptions to 90,000 property owners in Pune

Discounted property tax bills will be sent out from April 1.

March 22, 2024: After the Maharashtra government’s decision to reinstate property tax exemptions, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration has commenced the process of accepting PT-3 applications from citizens who were previously ineligible for the exemption. This move means that approximately 90,000 property owners will benefit from discounts on their property tax bills for the fiscal year 2024-25.

From 2018 to 2023, individuals who resided in their properties, known as owners of self-occupied properties, did not receive the 40% concession on property tax due to the cancellation of property tax exemption. However, in 2023, the Maharashtra government issued a separate order reinstating property tax exemptions. PT-3 applications were sought from property owners without tenants.

According to the PMC’s taxation and tax collection department, around 90,000 property owners in the city submitted PT-3 applications. After the completion of inspections, property tax relief will be granted to them, effective from the upcoming financial year. Discounted property tax bills will be sent out from April 1 through various channels such as MMS, mail, online platforms, and speed post.
