June 20, 2023: The state government’s simplified online property registration system Kaveri 2.0 will cover 256 sub-registrar offices by June 25, Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said on June 19. Already rolled out in 251 sub-registrar offices, the Kaveri 2.0 software, said the minister, ensured property registration in 10-15 minutes.
The updated Kaveri 2.0 had been launched by the state government after fixing the server issues and technical glitches common in the old software, he said.
The new updated property registration system will enable buyers and sellers to submit property documents online for verification and make the requisite payments. After the document verification and payment of the fee, the buyer can book and appointment for property registration online and get the job done in a matter of 15 minutes, the minister added.
The new system will enable property and land buyers in the state to pre-register all their data before booking an appointment at the sub-registrar’s office. At the sub-registrar offices, they will only have to submit documents, provide photos and biometric impressions.
“Earlier, there was no system in place in sub-registrar offices and they were totally disorganised. The people have been suffering to have their properties registered. Under the new system, the accountability would be fixed,” Gowda told media.
The state launched Kaveri 2.0 on March 2, 2023. “It is a revolutionary technology that will not only end hassles in property registration but also end the menace of middlemen at sub-registrar offices,” Karnataka revenue minister R Ashok said at the launch.
