Rock Garden Darjeeling: Location

The Rock Garden is about 10 kilometre (km) from Darjeeling. To reach the garden, one has to proceed from the town along the Hill Cart Road and turn right well before reaching Ghum. The road descends rapidly into the valley, and there are scenic views at many points. Tea gardens dot the hill slopes, adding to the beauty of the journey.

By rail: The closest railway stations are Darjeeling Himalayan, Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri. These train stations have direct rail connections to Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and other cities.

By road: Siliguri, located around 62 km from Darjeeling, is the primary access point by road. The city has connections to all major cities. Buses are available at the Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand in Siliguri, .

The Rock Garden was constructed by the Gorkha Hill Council Tourism Department to attract more tourists to Darjeeling after political agitations disrupted tourism in the 1980s. It is a multi-level picnic ground that is terraced around a natural waterfall. The garden has become a popular tourist destination in Darjeeling.

The Rock Garden provides a spectacular view of a hill stream flowing over rocks along the slope with flower gardens and sitting spaces at different levels. There is also a small lake. Ganga Maya Park

The Ganga Maya Park is about 3 km from the Rock Garden. The park features a charming stream, surrounded by gazebos, flowering shrubs, trees and humpback bridges under which koi carp fish can be seen. The park also has a circular lake with paddle boats and a waterfall, making it a wonderful spot to unwind. Boating facilities are available at the small lake. Additionally, tourists can enjoy Gorkha folk dances for entertainment.
