Rohan Lifespaces’ chairman granted bail in 280-cr fraud case

Harresh Navnitrai Mehta has been granted a bail for a surety amount of Rs 5 lakh.

June 7,2023: Mumbai-based developer and chairman of Rohan Lifespaces Harresh Mehta was granted bail by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sessions court of Thane on June 5, 2023, on a personal bond, on the Rs 280 crore fraud case filed by State Bank of India (SBI).

According to an Indian Express report, the order passed by Amit Shete, special CBI court judge read, “The accused – Harresh Navnitrai Mehta – arrested in connection with FIR registered with CBI, EOB, Mumbai, be released on his execution of PB (Personal Bond) and SB (Security Bond) of Rs 5,00,000 with one or more solvent sureties of like amount on following terms and conditions.”

About the case

In 2016, based on a complaint filed by the State Bank of India (SBI), the CBI’s EOW Mumbai probed against Rajput Retail Ltd (RRL) directors’ Vijay Gupta and Ajay Gupta. SBI’s complaint mentioned that three loans were availed from the SBI by conspiring with forging documents. Upon investigation, the CBI pointed that Mehta was sanctioned Rs 155 crore for property purchase in the Ruby building.
