What do people use in place of Shaktipeeth Expressway currently?

Currently, since the detailed project report (DPR) of the Shaktipeeth Expressway is still in the making, people are using the old ways to travel from Nagpur to Goa. This includes using the National Highway 44, National Highway 52, Belgaum and finally Goa.

The other route is from Nagpur to Gulburga to Vijayapura, Belgaum and then finally Goa which covers around 1,136 km and takes close to 23 hours.

A third route is from Nagpur to Latur to Solapur to Vijayapura to Belgaum and finally Goa. This route spans over 1,044 km and takes around 23 hours.

Real estate impact of Shaktipeeth Expressway

The Shaktipeeth Expressway once completed is expected to see exponential growth once it is operational. The route by which it will pass through will be an industrial corridor that will play an important role in the socio-economic development of the region, something that this belt lacks currently.

Presently, people use the NH44 and NH52 to travel between Bangalore and Vijayawada. While these highways provide good connectivity, the travel time between the two cities is close to 23 hours, which is on the higher side. These highways pass through may cities and towns before reaching the final destination and there are places where there are heavy traffic jams, multiple crossings, traffic signals etc. because of the width of the road.

As opposed to the older highways, the Shaktipeeth Expressway will have fewer access points and intersections helping in smooth commute. Additionally, the new expressway allows people to travel at 120km/h that is much higher than the average speed that is allowed on the currently operating routes. Thus, vehicles on the Nagpur-Goa Expressway can travel at a consistent speed which will help in saving time and fuel. These tweaks have resulted in reduction in travel time to around seven to eight hours, which is a big advantage of this expressway.

Housing.com POV

The Shaktipeeth Expressway is a well-planned route bringing travel time between the two states closer by nine hours. This expressway is not only an inter-state vital link connecting two huge cities but will also connect cities through 12 districts and 1 district thereby supporting local economies, trade and boosting tourism. While things like toll charges on the expressway, vehicles allowed to travel etc. are not yet decided, this expressway which is being constructed by the MSRDC and the Maharashtra government will give a facelift to this area in terms of connectivity in the West of India.
