The Shankar Vihar Metro station is located near the Shankar Vihar. Shankar Vihar, located in South West Delhi, is characterised by various residential complexes dedicated to housing the esteemed personnel of the Indian Armed Forces as well as their families. Because of its position within the Delhi Cantonment area and defence zone, the Shankar Vihar metro station is the only station in the Delhi Metro network that restricts civilian access. Commuters must carry identification cards to depart the station because it is located within a military base.
