May 3, 2024: The Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) has extended the deadline to pay the Shimla Property Tax by July 15, owing to delay in the process of issuing property tax bills.
According to Tribune India, there are over 31,683 building owners under the jurisdiction of the Shimla Municipal Corporation who pay property tax. While all bills are issued to the property owners by April 30, this year around 27,000 bills are yet to be issued to property owners in the town. This is due to staff engaged in poll-related duties.
In addition to the deadline extension, the Shimla Municipal Corporation has also offered a rebate of 10% in the property tax to the property owners who will clear property tax dues before July 15.
