Single registration number to be given to each project: MahaRERA

This is to prevent homebuyers from getting cheated.

January 23, 2024: In a bid to prevent homebuyers from getting cheated concerning real estate investments, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) on January 10 issued an order stating one project will have one MahaRERA registration number. This decision has been taken to address complaints of homebuyers getting cheated by developers who have two or more MahaRERA registration numbers for the same or part of the same real estate project.

According to the order, while applying for registration of a realty project, promoters shall upload a Declaration-cum-Undertaking in the format prescribed by MahaRERA. The letterhead has to mention that the project site or any of its parts does not have a RERA registration number or is any application pending.

In case, MahaRERA notices any wrong or false statements made by promoters in the declaration-cum-undertaking, action as deemed fit and proper shall be taken by MahaRERA against such promoters.
