The Karnataka Vidyasiri Scholarship was established by the Karnataka Backward Classrooms Welfare Department. The government will offer benefits to students from SC/ST/OBC/PWD upbringings with restricted monetary capacity for higher education via the Vidyasiri Scholarship programme.

Vidyasiri Scholarship: Highlights
The Karnataka government has launched the Vidyasiri Scholarship Scheme 2022 for SC/ST/OBC/PWD students. Post-matric educators who struggle to be reimbursed for their postsecondary learning are urged to enlist in their classes of selection through the ePass Vidyasiri scholarship.
In addition, the government has made the ePass (electronic payment and scholarship application system) services available to make it easier for learners to apply for and obtain Vidyasiri scholarships.
Vidyasiri Scholarship: Eligibility criteria
The Government of Karnataka’s Department of Backward Classes Welfare has published the eligibility requirements for the Vidyasiri scholarship scheme 2022. The following are the Vidyasiri eligibility requirements for 2022:
Category – 1
- Must be an Indian citizen and have a residency permit in Karnataka.
- His/her caste should appear on the Government of India’s or state governments’ enumeration of backward classes.
- Students enrolled in post-secondary education at govt, local, charitable organisations, publicly financed, and identified institutions allied with Karnataka’s statutes colleges.
Category – 2
- Backwards-class students registered in post-matriculation degrees who haven’t been acknowledged into any individual departments or govt student accommodation will be eligible for the Vidyasiri-Food and Lodging Scholarship Scheme as well.
Category – 3
- The student’s uncle’s family’s yearly gross revenue should fall within the following ranges:
- Rs.2.50 lakh for Categorization pupils
- Rs. 1.00 lakhs for Category-2A, 3A, and 3B schoolchildren
- Students who live in rural areas are 15 kilometres from the college. Students who live in one city/town but attend college in another city/town are also qualified.
- To be eligible, new and returning students must have obtained the minimum marks listed below in the prior year’s annual examination.
Category – 4
- Students who take the same courses twice are ineligible. (For example, admission to B.Com after B.A.MA (English) after MA (Kannada), LLB after B.Ed, and so on.)
- Students enrolled in postgraduate medical programmes who practise medicine during their studies are not qualified for this service.
- Students who have completed Arts, Science, and Commerce courses, as well as Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees, are ineligible.
- The scheme is only open to two male members of the same family. This restriction, however, does not pertain to female candidates.
Category – 5
- Evey MAH student must participate in at least 75% of classes.

List of Vidyasiri Scholarship schemes
Candidates pursuing post-secondary education in government, government-aided, or residential colleges are eligible to apply for the Vidyasiri scholarship. The following are the specifics of the various schemes available through the Vidyasiri scholarship:
- Fee concession for PMS FAAS, FC, and NUR: The government will represent the full course fee for any classes selected by the candidate underneath this Vidyasiri scholarship scheme.
- Fee gesture and free guesthouse housing for post-matric students: Through this Vidyasiri scholarship scheme, chosen post-matric students will be given a fee concession and free hostel accommodation.
- SSLC and PUC Prathiba Puraskar: Candidates who have received more than 90% in their grade X and PUC board exams are eligible for this Vidyasiri scholarship scheme.

Vidyasiri Scholarship: Benefits
- Free hostel accommodation: The Karnataka government provides free hostel/accommodation to all selected candidates based on merit.
- Amount of PMS FAAS, FC, and NUR scholarships: Over 20000 people will benefit from this scheme. The current scheme covers the entire course fee concession the applicant seeks.
- Pratibha Purskar amount: Upon merit, Pratibha Puraskar awards Rs. 10,000 to 1000 SSLC educators and Rs. 15,000 to 500 Secondary PUC students.
