The ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival culminates with the Ganesh Visarjan where the Ganesh idol is immersed in water. This year Ananta Chaturdashi or the Ganpati Visarjan is on September 28, 2023. While people keep Ganesh idols in their house for one and half days, three days, five days, seven days and ten days, the Visarjan on the tenth day is very special. Girgaon Chowpatty
One of the oldest beaches in Mumbai, this is a popular spot for Ganpati Visarjan. The Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati idol is immersed in Girgaon Chowpatty. Located in South Mumbai, this place is easily connected to all parts of the city.
How to reach?
If you are taking the Western Line of the Mumbai Local, then the nearest railway station is Charni Road. If you are coming from Navi Mumbai or the Central Mumbai side, then get down at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and take public transport to the beach.
Shivaji Park Chowpatty
The Shivaji Park Chowpatty is another popular place for Ganpati Visarjan. Located in Dadar, it enjoys connectivity across the city. The Shivaji Park has a large artificial lake where devotees do Ganesh Visarjan. Very close to Shivaji Park is Prabhadevi where the Siddhivinayak temple is located.

The nearest railway station to Shivaji Park is the Dadar Railway Station.
Khar Danda
This quiet beach is located in the Danda village and is near the Khar Railway Station.
How to reach?
You can reach here from Bandra Railway Station or the Khar Railway Station.
Juhu Chowpatty
The Juhu Chowpatty is a famous beach in Mumbai and has been hosting Ganpati Visarjan for decades. Like every year, the beach has made arrangements for security, life guards and medical help to conduct a safe Visarjan.
How to reach?
The nearest railway station to reach Juhu Beach is Andheri.
Versova Beach
This is also one of the oldest beaches of Mumbai city known for shallow water and clean sand. Many celebrities staying in and around Versova go to this beach for Ganesh immersion of their home Ganpati idol.
How to reach?
If you travel by the Mumbai Local, then Andheri is the nearest railway station. You may also travel by Mumbai Metro Line-1 also known as the Blue Line that is from Ghatkopar to Versova.
In addition to these natural immersion spots, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has also created artificial ponds across the Mumbai city to facilitate people with an easy immersion process and avoid crowding and chaos in the city.

- Travel well ahead of time as there may be traffic congestion on the roads owing to Ganesh Visarjan.
- Avoid personal vehicles and travel by public transport to reach your destination faster.
- Be safe and wary of pick pockets.
