With a change in the temperature, the water needs for your plant also changes. While the plant may need more water during summers, you may go slow on them during the rainy season and the winter season.

Mulching

The temperature of the soil is regulated by mulching. So, mulching around your plants, the soil will be warm in cooler seasons and cool in hot seasons, thus helping the plant withstand the temperature change.

Pruning

Every time a season changes, the plant shows some change. For instance it may show a pattern of dry leaves or flowers falling, the stem or leaves turning yellow and brown etc. Even in the absence of such signs, it is recommended to prune the plants regularly between seasons. This helps in their growth and also keeps pests and diseases at bay.

Pests and diseases

Watch out regularly for pests and diseases in the plant and treat them at the earliest.

Maintain the fertilizer

The need for nutrition by the plant also changes according to the season. Increase the fertilisation content when the need is more and reduce it when the nutritional needs are less.

Support the plants

Some plants especially vines will get help if they get some support. So, when the plants starts growing, help it with support. You can also shape it the way you want to accentuate your home décor.

Repotting

This is also one of the most important things that has to be done. As the plant grows, it may outgrow the container and would need more space for better growth. Whenever you feel that the pot in which the plant is growing is not enough, immediately repot.

Movement of plants

It’s always a good idea to move the indoor plants outside and vice-versa so that the plants can get some change. This done especially doing the plant’s growing season helps it. However, simply by keeping an indoor plant out for hours together may affect the plant. If you intent to do this, start with an hour and gradually increase the time. Alternatively, you can also shift the place of the plant inside your house so that it gets some freshness.
