UP Road Tax: Calculation, payment and tax rates

Learn all you need to know about UP road tax, its calculation, payment method and tax rates.

Road tax is the tax imposed by the government on the cars you own for transportation or personal usage by The Regional Transport Office in your region. Vehicle owners in Uttar Pradesh must pay road tax while registering their vehicles.

After the initial road tax payment has been completed, extra tax may be due in accordance with the applicable laws according to current regulations. The upkeep and safety of the roads you use while travelling are the goals of the road tax. Road tax charge also pays for the expense of building new roads. This is crucial for a safe and comfortable drive that keeps you away from accidents. The state imposes a road tax. Other than the national highways, all roads and highways are built by the corresponding state governments. Since the state government is primarily responsible for funding road construction (apart from national highways and strategically important border routes), Uttar Pradesh levies a road fee on vehicle owners.
