Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway is an under-construction 379-kilometre expressway that will connect the two major commercial cities. It is part of the eight-lane, access-controlled Delhi-Mumbai Expressway that will connect Delhi and Mumbai.
The project started on March 8, 2019, and the total cost, including land acquisition, is estimated to be around Rs 1 L Cr. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to develop a 31-km spur from Noida International Airport in Jewar to Sector-65 in Faridabad along the expressway.
The proposed Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway is expected to transform into a transportation corridor in western India under the Bharatmala Pariyojana project. It is being developed at a cost of Rs 44,000 Cr. The fully-access controlled expressway has been proposed to ease connectivity between Mumbai and Vadodara. The Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway will shorten the distance between the two cities to 379 km and reduce travel time from 5 hours to 3.5 hours. At present, the distance between JNPT Port Mumbai and Vadodara is around 550 km, which takes around 10-12 hours to cover.
