These projects are worth Rs 10,947 crore and Rs 33,690 crore respectively. Two depots for maintenance of the rakes will be set up as approved under MUTP-III and 3A.

Media reports added that these trains will be manufactured by the technology partner, ensuring Make in India guidelines. Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) will undertake the procurement that includes maintenance for 35 years. According to the railways, Vande Bharat Metro will be deployed for short distances to cover cities around 100 km apart.
