Water supply in Odisha is largely controlled by the Water Corporation of Odisha or WATCO. This organisation of Odisha Government’s Housing and Urban Development department supplies water and oversees the drainage and sanitation services of several important districts in the state, including Bhubaneshwar, Rourkela, Cuttack and Berhampur.

Availing water-related services such as bill payments and applying for new connections has now been made easy through the various online portals of Odisha government. Online water bill payment in Odisha

You can pay your water bill in Odisha through the Odisha One portal. Here’s how:

Open the required window

Firstly, you need to open the Odisha One portal on your browser. Scroll down the home page to the ‘Civil Services’ menu and select the ‘All Services’ option. Click on ‘Select Service Group’ and select ‘Municipality Services’ from the dropdown menu. Next, click on the ‘Water/Sewerage Bill Payment’ option that appears.

Fill in the required fields

To check your bill details, you will have to provide the relevant details such as city, mobile number and user details. The website will obtain your bill once you click on ‘Search.’ Check the bill thoroughly before clicking on ‘Proceed.’

Make the payment

Once you have checked the bill details, you will have to choose from the mentioned payment gateway options (Razorpay/CCAvenue/Paytm). Complete the transaction and save the e-receipt for future reference.

How to apply for a new water connection online?

Another related service you can avail online is applying for a new water connection. This can be done through the Government of Odisha’s Go Swift portal. Here are the steps:

Visit the portal and login

Open the Go Swift portal on your browser and register by filling the required details. After registering, you can login using your credentials. Go to ‘Services’ -> ‘Obtaining water connection.’

Fill the form

You will be redirected to a form wherein you will have to fill your details. Further, you will also have to upload scanned copies of some documents as specified on the form. After filling out all the fields, click on ‘Submit.’

Make the payment

Once you submit the form, the payable amount will be displayed on the screen. Click on ‘Pay Now’ and select the suitable payment method. You can pay online using debit/credit card, net banking or UPI or even opt to pay over the counter at your nearest water supply board office. After the transaction is complete, you will be able to track the status of your application by logging in again.
