June 8, 2023: The civic amenities development work in the Global City project site is expected to commence in August 2023, according to a TOI report. The Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has invited bids for auctioning three land parcels, with a total area of 142.5 acre, at a combined reserve price of Rs 7,817 crore.
The Global City project will be developed in two phases on a total area of 1,003 acre in sectors 36B and 37B along the under-construction Dwarka Expressway.
Of the 570 acre, three land parcels of 78.5, 23.8 and 40.2 acre are available in the first auction. According to officials, the reserve price of the 78.5-acre land parcel is around Rs 4,957 crore, the 23.8-acre land parcel Rs 1,298 crore and the 40.2-acre land parcel Rs 1,562 crore.
Earlier, the HSIIDC estimated Rs 758-crore for developing essential services and civic amenities at the project site. However, the estimated amount has now increased to Rs 931 crore. The HSIIDC will spend about 50% of the total cost on constructing a 5.5 m X 5.5 m utility tunnel.
The Global City is being developed as a ‘digging-free’ city by placing all utilities in a tunnel to prevent the need for excavating roads for repair, maintenance, renovation or upgradation of utilities. It is set to become the second city after GIFT City, Ahmedabad, to have such a utility tunnel.
The Haryana government is developing the Global City project in Gurgaon as the new central business district in the National Capital Region (NCR).
