Take up a hobby
If you are working from home, ensure that you set appropriate boundaries. By setting the right work-life balance, you can find some time to do what you love. Psychologists warn that the COVID-19 and the resultant lockdown, may leave some, not just physically restrained but also psychologically stressed.
Try some do-it-yourself (DIY) tricks
You can use the lockdown period, to try some of those DIY tips that you have been watching or reading about and may have always wanted to try out. For example, you can use old sarees, denim, bedsheets, oil paint, or whatever it is that you have, to make a colourful table cloth, a painting, a showpiece, or paper cards. Even men can use this time to build a tool rack, a hold-it-all hanger, a wooden bottle opener or a kitchen garden.
Create dedicated spaces for your belongings
“Since we got married last year and shifted into a new building, our day’s routine has been a mess,” says 33-year-old Sagar Choradia, who lives with his wife, Chhavi Kedia, in an apartment in Gurugram. Choradia is a banker and his wife is an academician. “Travelling to the university every morning takes a toll. Sometimes we have to fit unexpected events in our schedule. Our shoes end up in the living room, while the clothes are dumped in the guest room,” says Kedia, who has decided to utilise the time to build some dedicated spaces for various things in their home.
Struggling without domestic help? If you are living with your family, divide the work in a way that each one of you is able to focus on work and knows their daily chores. For example, your spouse could take care of the washing, while you manage the kitchen and assign sorting and folding of clothes to the children.
