May 22, 2023: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will complete the Bangalore Metro’ Yellow Line, which connects Bommasandra with RV Road, in one go by December 2023, mention media reports.
Earlier, the BMRCL had decided to open the Yellow Metro Line in two phases – Bommasandra to the Central Silk Board under the first phase in June 2023 and the Central Silk Board to RV Road under the second phase in December 2023. However, according to the BMRCL, the decision to complete the project in one go was taken as opening only one section of the line would not draw much ridership.
The Bangalore Metro authorities are planning to lay down a 175 km metro network by 2025. In March 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line on the metro network.
The BMRCL’s managing director Anjum Parwez said that the first two sets of six coach trains would arrive in Bangalore from China by August 2023. Additional train sets would arrive from September 2023 onwards from Kolkata-based Titagarh Waggons, he added.
The Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro (Namma Metro) will cover 19.14 km on an elevated route. It will comprise 16 stations on the route – Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road (RV Road), Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Singasandra, Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Konappana Agrahara, Electronic City, Huskuru Road, Hebbagodi and Bommasandra.
