Existing metro network in Gurgaon
Gurgaon is already connected with national capital through the Delhi Metro’s 49.019-km Yellow Line. However, only a 7.05-km route falls in Gurgaon with five stations, including Guru Dronacharya, Sikandarpur, MG Road and IFFCO Chowk. The HUDA City Center Metro Station is currently the last station on this route. The city also has an internal rapid metro metro, too, which is connected with the Delhi Metro.
Upcoming HUDA City Center-Cyber City Metro route in Gurgaon
To be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,452 crore, the new lines are expected to have a daily ridership of 7.5 lakh, and create new jobs in Gurgaon.
Harayana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) will implement the project, proposed to be completed in four years from the date of sanction. HMRTC will be set up as a 50:50 special purpose vehicle (SPV) of the Centre and Haryana government after a sanction order is issued.
A standard gauge line of 1,435-mm, the entire project will be elevated. The spur from the Basai village has been provided for connectivity to depot. The new line will provide metro connectivity to Old Gurgaon, including the Gurgaon Railways Station. In the next phase, it would provide connectivity to The Indira Gandhi International Airport, the government said in an official release, adding that this will also provide overall economic development in the area.
