Cidco proposes two metro lines to improve NAINA- NMIA connectivity

Cidco is teaming up with the Urban Mass Transit Company to prepare a DPR.

After the launch of Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 in November last year, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has plans to extend the Navi Mumbai Metro network to two new routes in the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA).

In line with the Cidco’s comprehensive mobility plan (CMP), these two routes will connect the under-construction Navi Mumbai International Airport with the main city.

The proposed metro route 1 spans from the Ulwe coastal road to Ambivali in Raigad. The second metro route that has been proposed is Kalamboli – Chikhale – Kon corridor.

According to media reports, Cidco has plans for lines that connect Taloja to the Navi Mumbai Airport (Metro Lines 2, 3 4), airport to Belapur (Metro Line 1A) and Belapur to Mankhurd (Mumbai Metro Line 8A) with the proposed two lines in NAINA. For this, Cidco is teaming up with the Urban Mass Transit Company (UMTC) to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the Metro Lines 2, 3 and 4 and the 2 Metro Lines proposed in NAINA.
