September 20, 2023: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will launch a new housing scheme before Diwali, which will offer 3,000 premium flats in Delhi, according to a ToI report. The authority will provide various housing options such as penthouses, Super High-income Group (HIG), HIG, Middle-income group (MIG) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS). These flats will be located across location such as Dwarka, Lok Nayak Puram, Vasant Kunj, etc.
The media report cited an official stating that this would be an exclusive scheme in which premium properties will be offered. Several properties are under construction such as penthouses and Super HIG flats in Sector 19B, Dwarka. There are under-construction MIG and EWS flats at Sector 14, Dwarka and Lok Nayak Puram.
DDA’s initiative to boost sales of flats
The DDA has been taking several measures to attract homebuyers.
In August 2023, the authority approached a private real estate consultancy firm to seek help in re-establishing itself in the housing market. The move aimed to boost sales of over 40,000 flats that were unsold. The firm was responsible for studying and assessing the data provided by the DDA regarding the performance of its housing schemes, housing standards and pricing methods and share its findings and recommendations.
Further, the DDA recently approved amendments in its housing regulations and revised the eligibility criteria to apply for the DDA flats in the city. According to the new regulations, those owning a house or plot in Delhi will be eligible to purchase a DDA flat.
In an another move that was taken by the authority, applicants of DDA’s first-come-first-serve (FCFS) scheme were allowed to modify and increase living areas in the flats allotted to them. This option was given in all types of DDA flats offered under this scheme.
