In January 2020, the Uttarakhand government announced a hike in circle rates in Dehradun, the state capital and other prominent areas. The state cabinet gave its approval to a 15% increase in the circle rates of land, which will bring additional funds to the state’s coffers. Circle rates in Dehradun

Circle rates are decided by the state authorities, to prevent usage of black money in real estate transactions. Stamp duty and registration charges are calculated, on the basis of circle rates or market value, whichever is higher.
