Delhi-Gurgaon expressway: Construction details

The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway is a brownfield expressway, developed at a total cost of Rs 9,000 crore.

The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway project was undertaken as part of the Golden Quadrilateral project. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRT&H), is responsible for implementing the Golden Quadrilateral project that connects metro cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata. Under this project, the authority proposed the conversion of a busy section of NH-8 linking Delhi to Gurgaon into a six/eight lane access controlled divided carriageway.

The existing four-lane, 27.7-km section of the NH-8 between Gurgaon and Delhi was to be upgraded. The road comprised 20 intersections and experienced high vehicular density. The new expressway was planned and developed as a six/eight land access-controlled carriageway with modern techniques.
