The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is conducting the dynamic speed test runs of the regional rapid transit systems (RRTS) for the 17-km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot. The trial runs are conducted to test various infrastructure components.
Besides a few minor and finishing tasks, the telecom and signalling development is still in progress. Once completed, integrated, high-speed test runs will begin on the priority corridor. NCRTC has charged Over Head Equipment (OHE) at 25 KV capacity from Duhai Depot to Ghaziabad RRTS station for operating the country’s first Regional Rail in the priority segment. In this procedure, the RRTS train successfully covered the distance up to Ghaziabad RRTS station to test the charged OHE. The remaining priority section’s OHE will also be charged soon.
Vinay Kumar Singh, managing director of the NCRTC said that the 17-km Duhai-Sahibabad priority section in Ghaziabad of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor is expected to be operational by March 2023. Each of the several technological components must pass a separate test to create a secure and dependable RRTS network. Once the tests are successful, the system’s components, rolling stocks, OHE, telecom, signalling, track, station infrastructure, platform screen doors, etc., will undergo integrated testing to assess how well they work together and how they perform in terms of public safety. The priority section has already mapped out the track work.
The entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is expected to be operational by 2025. The Duhai-Sahibabad priority section in Ghaziabad, UP, will be ready by early 202, as per official statements from NCRTC.
