RRTS section to pass through Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway

The alignment of this RRTS section will be from Aerocity to Rajiv Chowk through Cyber City.

September 15, 2023: In a move that will boost connectivity for Gurgaon residents, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has proposed to change the alignment of the Gurgaon-Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror (SNB) section of the Delhi-Meerut RapidX project to take it along the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, officials said as mentioned in media reports.

Once approved, the new route will benefit residents around the Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road and Old Gurgaon. The proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) alignment will be from Aerocity to Rajiv Chowk through Cyber City along the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. The Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway is a 27.7-km expressway along the National Highway-48 (NH-48), which connects Dhaula Kuan in Delhi with Gurgaon.

Earlier, the alignment was designed to pass through Kapashera, Udyog Vihar, Atul Kataria Chowk, Maharana Pratap Chowk, Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk.

NCRTC to develop RRTS corridor in three phases

In the first phase of the RRTS project, a 107-kilometre section will be developed from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to SNB Urban Complex near Bawal in Haryana, covering Gurgaon, Manesar, Panchgaon and Rewari.

Under the second phase, the corridor will be extended from SNB to Sotanala, covering Shahjahanpur, Neemrana and Behror.

In the third phase of the project, the SNB to Alwar section will be developed, according to the details shared by the Haryana government in May 2023, once the project is approved.

The RRTS project is being developed at Rs 30,274 crore with multimodal integration with transport facilities at Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Sarai Kale Khan and Shaheed Sthal stations. A 17-km priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai is expected to be operational soon.
