The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on June 26 extended the last date to opt for pension on higher wages by 15 days to July 11, 2023.
“Last opportunity of 15 days is being given to remove any difficulty faced by the eligible pensioners/ members. Accordingly, the last date for submission of applications for validation of option /joint options by employees is extended to July 11, 2023,” the pension fund body said in a statement.
This is the third time the EPFO has extended this deadline. The pension fund body launched an online facility for employees to submit applications for validation of option/joint options for pension on higher wages in compliance with a Supreme Court order dated November 4, 2022. The facility was launched on February 26, 2023, and was initially made available till April 3. The time limit was later extended to June 26 to provide more time to eligible pensioners for filing applications. A total of 16.06 lakh applications have been received till June 26, the EPFO said.
Tending to the requests made by employers to extend the time limit for uploading wage details of pensioners/members, the EPFO has also given three more months to employers to submit wage details online by September 30, 2023.
“Any eligible pensioner/member who on account of any issue in updation of KYC, faces difficulty in submitting online application may immediately lodge such grievance on the EPFiGMS for resolution. The grievance may be submitted by selecting the grievance category of ‘Higher Pensionary benefits on higher wages’. This will ensure proper record of such a grievance for further action,” the EPFO said.
