The agency works towards building a futuristic smart city and undertakes numerous projects to accomplish this objective.

To cater to the growing housing needs in the area, HIDCO also comes up with various schemes, offering plots and affordable houses for different income groups and the economically weaker sections. HIDCO flat and plot lottery

In July 2024, the WBHIDCO announced a lottery for the allotment of 154 residential plots on 99 years’ lease. These plots are located under the Gitabitan Township Project, Bolpur.  The lottery was conducted on August 14, 2024, in New Town, Kolkata.

The township, which is spread across an area of 100.5 acres, is located at Santiniketan in Birbhum District of West Bengal. WBHIDCO will offer three types of plots with a sanctioned plan – Category A, B and C. A total of 54 plots will be allotted based on a 99 year lease to individuals through a draw of lottery.

The basic infrastructure, including streetlight, landscaping, creation of a plaza, front gate, boundary wall, etc., will be developed by the corporation. After completion of the project, WBHIDCO will hand over the assets to the Association/ Cooperative formed by the plot owners. Lease premium of the land has to be paid as mentioned by the corporation. Further, the price of the building must be paid by the allottee separately.

How to apply for HIDCO lottery scheme?

The entire HIDCO lottery application process is online. Applicants can follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of WBHIDCO at https://www.wbhidcoltd.com/ and look for the ‘HIDCO lottery’ scheme link on the main page.

Step 2: First-time users should register themselves by providing their email ID, mobile number, full name, etc.. Then, click on login.

Step 3: Click on the application form option. You will be redirected to a new page.

Step 4: Complete the form by providing relevant details.

Step 5: Submit the application form.

Applicants are also required to submit the application money online as mentioned in the guidelines on the website. They will receive an acknowledgement slip and payment receipt.

Eligibility to apply for HIDCO lottery

Applicants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria to participate in the HIDCO lottery scheme:

• Should be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of West Bengal.
• Should be 18 years of age or above.
• The income of an applicant under the economically weaker section must be Rs 25,000 per month.
• Those applying for the HIDCO lottery scheme should not have any property in their name or any family member’s name.
• The applicant must provide government document proof to apply for flats under HIDCO.

Documents required

When submitting the online application form for the HIDCO lottery scheme, the applicants must provide relevant documents that include:

• Self-attested copy of Aadhaar card.
• Residence proof, e.g., self-attested copy of PAN card, BPL card or ration card.
• Passport-size photographs.
• Monthly family income certificate.
• Bank passbook.
• Recent salary slips for income proof.
• Copy of the latest income tax return.
• Registered mobile number

In addition, one must pay a registration fee of Rs 33,000 at the time of registration.

How is the HIDCO lottery conducted?

The HIDCO lottery is conducted by the authority to allocate the properties to the eligible applicants through a random draw. The authority announces the date, time and venue for the lottery. One representative from each applicant is allowed to attend the event. After the draw is conducted, successful applicants must submit the required documents, including self-attested documents, within the specified timeframe.

The allotment process is governed by WBHIDCO, involving site inspection, application and signing of lease deed. WBHIDCO conducts verification of the applications. It has the right to reject application in case of factual errors or incorrect or incomplete documents or information. After the lottery, the application money is returned to the unsuccessful applicants. Successful applicants are issued a letter of allotment after document verification, and the construction must commence within five years from the allotment date. 

How to check HIDCO lottery results?

To check the HIDCO lottery draw results, visit the official WBHIDCO portal. Click on the HIDCO lottery draw results link on the home page. A new page will open on the screen. Submit the application-cum-registration number and other relevant details. The draw results containing the name of the winners will be displayed.
