How to view and pay Jammu & Kashmir property tax?

J&K has extended the deadline to pay property tax till August 31, 2023.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on February 21, 2023, notified imposition of property tax in municipal areas of the union territory (UT), starting April 1, 2023, on all lands and buildings.

In this website, you will see property tax calculator residential, property tax calculator (small shops), property tax calculator (commercial/mixed use), suggestion, formula for calculation and district circle rates.

To calculate the property tax for residential property, click on property tax calculator residential. You will reach

Enter details like municipality, building area in sqft, circle rate, usage type, age of building, construction type, occupancy, built-up area, vacant land and click on calculate property tax.

Note that while calculating the property tax for residential property remember that for the Municipality Type Factor (MTF), 0.5 is set as the value for Municipal Committee and 0.75 is set as value for Municipal Council.

Jammu & Kashmir property tax: How to pay online?

You can pay the property tax J&K by logging on to https://jammu.cantt.gov.in/. Click on property tax listed under Public Services.

Under this property tax service, you can have a digital interface access that allows you to search and download property bill, make the payment online and download the payment receipt.

For this,

  • login to the system using mobile number and OTP
  • Search for required property using Search property
  • Download the bill
  • Pay the property tax using portal or PT bill payment link received through SMS and email
  • Download the receipt.

For paying property tax, you will be led to https://echhawani.gov.in/citizen/language-selection?cant=jammu&lang=en_IN& where you can register and pay the property tax.

 

Jammu & Kashmir property tax penalty

If you don’t pay your J&K property tax before the deadline, you will have to pay a penalty of Rs 100 or 1% of the property tax payable, whichever is higher for every month of the delay. The maximum fine is Rs 1,000.
