Maha CM lays foundation stone for Mumbai Metro Line 12

The project cost is around Rs 5, 865 crore and is expected to be completed by 2026-27.

The Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on March 3, 2024 laid the foundation of the Mumbai Metro Line 12 that will connect Kalyan with Taloja in Navi Mumbai. This is an extension of the Mumbai Metro Line 5 that will ply between Thane- Bhiwandi- Kalyan.

Mumbai Metro Line 12 will be span across 22.17km and will include 19 elevated stations. The project cost is around Rs 5, 865 crore and is expected to be completed by 2026-27. With this new line, travel time between Kalyan and Taloja will be 45 minutes.

According to media reports, the CM after laying the foundation stone at an open ground in Dombivali said, “Metro Line 12 aspires to bring innumerable benefits to the residents of MMR as it will substantially elevate connectivity between Kalyan and Taloja (Navi Mumbai). The journey from Taloja to Kalyan, south Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayender and Virar, will become shorter and more convenient”.
