Due to the increasing traffic and the need for better connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The Noida Authority, the agency in charge of Noida’s development, came up with the proposal to build the Mahamaya Flyover. It spans the Yamuna River and the adjacent surroundings for around 6 km.

The Mahamaya Flyover has multiple lanes for vehicular traffic, including distinct lanes for two- and four-wheeled vehicles. To ensure a steady flow of traffic, it has entry and exit ramps at various locations.

Mahamaya Flyover: Phases of construction

Work on the Mahamaya Flyover began in 2008.
The Noida Authority worked with numerous engineering companies and contractors to complete the project.
Building a strong structure across the Yamuna River required rigorous engineering during the construction phase.
During the construction phase, the pain points included river alignment, site acquisition and cooperation with several stakeholders.
