The Maharashtra state government has invited consultants to provide Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of two Greenfield expressway corridors with a project estimate of Rs 8,000 crore.

Maharashtra, by 2028 may be India’s first state to have a ring routed expressway highway network with all sides having seamless road connectivity, mentions a ToI report.

The Maharashtra state government has invited consultants to provide Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of two Greenfield expressway corridors with a project estimate of Rs 8,000 crore. The first one is the Pune-Nashik industrial expressway which will include both old and new industrial zones and townships. The second one is the Nagpur Goa Shaktipeeth expressway which will connect major religious destinations including Mahur, Ambajogai, Aundha Nagnath, Parali, Tuljapur, Pandharpur, Narsobachi Wadi and Kolhapur. It will also be a corridor that will connect the Vidarbha jungles with the Sahyadri terrains and the Konkan beaches.

With Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai and Nashik connected by expressways, the two Greenfield highways will complete a ring routed expressway thus enabling seamless connectivity. On receiving the DPR from the consultants, the next step will be that of land acquisition. The Greenfield highways are expected to be completed in 5 years.
