The MMRDA plans to open the Mankhurd Thane flyover for public by February 15, 2023, with the construction work on the flyover in its final stage. The last girder for the flyover was installed on January 16, 2023, and the remaining work is expected to be completed soon.
With the opening of this flyover, travel time between Mankhurd and Thane will be reduced to five minutes. With this bridge operation, traffic woes at Chedda Nagar may end.
With the Chedda Nagar junction being a pain point with traffic, the MMRDA conceived the Chedda Nagar Traffic Improvement Project, under which three flyovers and one metro is being constructed. Also, phase-I of the 518-m long and 37.5 m wide subway along the Chedda Nagar flyover is complete and in service.
