August 28, 2023: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) has sent letters seeking explanation from around 77 winners of the recently held Mhada lottery 2023 Mumbai, mentions a Maharashtra Times report. The point in case is regarding the documents submitted at the time of application for the Mhada lottery 2023 Mumbai.
According to the report, post lottery, Mhada Mumbai Board started with the verification of the documents submitted. Some of the findings include that while husband and wife were required to submit a single form, there are many cases found where separate applications have been filed in order to increase chances of winning the lottery. Over 77 winners have not given the valid information or have indulged in information hiding.
As per the Mhada board, winners of Mhada draw who have provided false information will face action. The Maharashtra Times report mentioned that the Mumbai Board has sent a letter stating that the process of giving possession of the house to winners who are being questioned will be stopped immediately. In case of a non-satisfactory answer, the right of the winners to the houses in the draw may be canceled and the possession of those houses can go to the waiting list winners.
Of the total 4,082 units that were given out as part of Mhada lottery Mumbai 2023, around 1, 20,144 were validated in the final stage of the computerised draw.
With an intent to make the entire housing lottery process transparent, Mhada implemented the new software IHLMS 2.0 last year. With this software, applicants are required to submit only seven documents – registered mobile number and email ID, Aadhaar card, PAN card, Domicile certificate, ITR (self), income proof and caste certificate.
