MHADA redevelopment projects need not be approved by Maha government anymore

Previously, all the Government Resolutions (GRs) mentioned need for a no objection certificate (NOC) from the state government for redevelopment purposes which has been removed now.

In a bid to improvise speedy decision making and decentralize the process, the Maha government has cancelled all government resolutions issued by the previous Maharashtra government related to redevelopment of MHADA buildings.

Previously, for redevelopment purposes, all the Government Resolutions (GRs) had to have a no objection certificate (NOC) from the state government. This included getting an NOC for FSI increase from 2.5 to 3 for redevelopment of cessed buildings.  The circulars were issued by the previous government between 2021 and 2022.

According to the GR passed on September 15,2022, there is no need to get any prior permission from the Maharashtra state government for redevelopment. This also extended to construction of buildings destroyed by fire, buildings which have been legally demolished and clutter development. Also, previously a tripartite agreement between the developer, society and MHADA was mandatory which has been scrapped now.

This step is a step towards grievance redressal with citizens complaining of stalled redevelopment projects.
