Metro with the construction of the longest double-decker viaduct metro of 3.14 km on the Wardha Road has entered the Guinness Book of World
Records. Three metro stations namely Chhatrapati Nagar, Jai Prakash Nagar and Ujjwal Nagar are there at the double-decker viaduct. Brijesh Dixit, MD, Maha Metro received a certificate for this achievement from judge and adjudicator of Guinness World Records Rishi Nath at an event in the Metro Bhawan. Earlier, Nagpur Metro has also entered into the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records for the longest double-decker viaduct in India and Asia respectively.
Nagpur Metro is the country’s first four-level transportation corridor, where the first level is made of the existing vehicular and pedestrian underpass. The second level is the railway track, the third level is the national highway, and the Nagpur Metro line is the fourth level.
Previously, Nagpur Metro also has entered the India book of records and Asia Book of records respectively for the longest double-decker viaduct in India and Asia.

Nagpur Metro project
Nagpur Metro project, the greenest metro rail in India started on March 8, 2019. It is the country’s 13th operational metro system. This 40.85 km Nagpur Metro corridor has 38 stations and two depots. Nagpur Metro project is estimated to be completed with the cost of around Rs 8,680 Crore.
What are Nagpur Metro’s operating hours?
Nagpur Metro works from 6 am to 10.30 pm. To encourage more and more people to take advantage of Nagpur Metro, there are new initiatives introduced like 30% discount on tariff for students who travel by Nagpur Metro and 30% discount on tariff for people who take the Nagpur Metro during the weekend.
What time does Nagpur Metro start and end?
Depot exit of Nagpur Metro is at 5.45 am and goes back to stable at 23:12: 55 pm. For the public, it starts at 6 am and plys till 10. 30 pm.

Nagpur Metro Orange line: North-South corridor
Also known as Orange Line, the metro starts at Automotive Square and terminates at Khapri. Of this, Automotive Square, Nari Road, Indora Square, Kadbi Chowk and Gaddi Godam Square are still under construction. Presently, the Maha Metro Nagpur Orange Line is operational between Kasturchand Park and Khapri. The remaining line will be operational from December 11, 2022. Of these 18 stations, 15 are elevated and three are at grade metro stations. Further, the metro timings on the Orange Line are now extended and available for commuters from 7.30 am to 8.30 pm.

Nagpur Metro Aqua Line East-West corridor
Also known as Aqua Line, the east-west corridor starts at Prajapati Nagar and terminates at Lokmanya Nagar. At present, the Maha Metro Nagpur Aqua Line is operational between Sitabuldi (EW) and Lokmanya Nagar. The remaining part will be operational from December 11, 2022. Nagpur Metro station facilities
Following the motto ‘Metro for All’, every Nagpur Metro station is designed in a unique way. Each station on the Nagpur Metro route will provide an easy access, space for movement, childcare room, CCTV surveillance, passenger assistance centres, facilities for differently abled passengers, smart sewage treatment, water recycling plants and presence of multi-modal facilities, among others.
Nagpur Metro first and last-mile connectivity
Maha Metro has included schemes, such as shuttle buses, battery-operated vehicles, pedestrian facilities, and bicycle sharing as part of the Nagpur Metro project. At least 19 feeder routes have been identified that will cover all metro stations and a total distance of 160 km. These will help commuters to access the metro network to reach their homes and offices.

Nagpur Metro fare
Nagpur Maha Metro uses an automatic fare collection system – both smart cards and computerised paper tickets.
SBI Nagpur Metro Maha card
The Maha Card provides a safe and contactless way of paying fares across the Nagpur Metro lines. It can be used to purchase tickets or loading of passes. With the Maha Card, you can avail a discount of 10% on every metro ride.
The Maha Card can be used for feeder bus ticketing, ticket punching at metro stations, etc.

Nagpur Metro Phase-2
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11, 2022 laid the foundation stone of Nagpur Metro -Phase 2. Estimated to be around Rs 6,700 crore, the 43.8-km Phase-2 of Nagpur Metro will extend to Kanhan in north and Butibori MIDC in south as part of the north-south corridor. It will also extend to Transport Nagar (Kapsi) in east and Hingna Mount View in west as part of the east-west corridor.
There will be only one interchange available at Sitabuldi.
Once Phase 2 is operational, the total ridership on the Nagpur Metro is expected to reach 5.5 Lakh passengers per day. This number is expected to reach 6.3 Lakh in 2031 and 7.7 lakh in 2041.
