Despite not being a recent highway, there are plans for further development of NH 51 in the pipeline. Currently a two-lane highway, the government approved a project to convert it into a four-laned corridor in 2016, stating that it would further improve connectivity and further ease commercial transportation in the region. However, the project has been delayed and there is no new update regarding the same as of yet.
