NH 53 connects Hajira in Gujarat to Pradeep Port in Orissa and is a part of the Asian Highway Network. The stretch of Deogarh in Orissa to Dhule in Maharashtra is a part of the AH network. Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India announced that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had created a record by constructing a 75-km-long stretch between Amravati and Akola within 105 hours and 33 minutes. This record is entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.
