NH19: Connecting Agra to Kolkata

The highway travels through UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

The National Highway-19 (NH19), known as the Delhi-Kolkata Road earlier, is one of India’s busiest national thoroughfares. Following the renumbering of national roads, the route from Delhi to Agra is currently designated as the National Highway-44, and the route from Agra to Kolkata is the NH19.

The Golden Quadrilateral project, an ambitious scheme to construct a network of roads linking the four significant metropolises of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, includes the NH19. Due to its proximity to numerous significant historical and cultural sites, including the cities of Varanasi and Allahabad, the NH19 is also a popular tourist route.

NH 19 has played a major role in the development of roadways infrastructure and improving the connectivity of several rural areas of the states it covers. This has led to a meteoric rise in economic and commercial activities in the surrounding regions. The Highway’s inter-state connectivity has allowed people to spread their commercial activities to a larger region.

All this has caused betterment in the quality of life in the surrounding areas and made it an attractive prospect for real estate investment. With more development of the regions, the real estate demand is all set to witness a steady increase.
